When you update a Member's Credit Card or Bank Account information, you must delete the existing billing details then add the new account information into the Member's billing page.
Click the link 'Delete this card', then click the button 'Delete'.
Billing information is not stored in the ShapeNet database. It is stored in the Open Edge servers.
When updating an existing account number (credit card or bank account), you should delete the current account information first, then add the new card or bank account into Shape. When account information is initially added to Shape, it creates an token alias or database name. The alias is encrypted and attached to the member’s account information. The token is the block of data transported from Shape to the gateway and is used as proof of the identity of the member and the relationship to the sender. It's basically a string of letters and numbers.
If the card details need to be updated, that original string cannot be updated so a new alias must be created.
Deleting the account information from Shape deletes the old alias with the obsolete data and a new alias is created with the new card information.
